Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
SignalScope is a software product developed and supported by a UK-based small team. For the purposes of UK GDPR, the data controller is the proprietor of signalscope.site, contactable at:
2. What data we collect
We only collect personal data when you actively give it to us. Specifically:
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email, organisation, message | You submit the contact form or email us | To respond to your enquiry and discuss pricing / setup |
| Email address | You subscribe to the newsletter | To send occasional product updates (you can unsubscribe any time) |
| IP address, browser, page views | You visit signalscope.site | Anonymised analytics (page popularity, conversion). IP is anonymised before storage. |
We do not collect: payment card details (handled by a PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor at the point of purchase, never by us); special-category data; your station's broadcast content, recordings, or operational metadata.
3. Lawful basis
- Contact form & sales enquiries — legitimate interest (responding to your request) and, where applicable, taking steps to enter into a contract with you.
- Newsletter — consent (you opted in by submitting the form). You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us.
- Analytics — legitimate interest in understanding how the website is used to improve it. IP addresses are anonymised.
- Customer support after purchase — performance of a contract.
4. Who we share data with
We use a small number of third-party processors strictly to operate the website and respond to enquiries. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. Current processors:
- Brevo (Sendinblue) — transactional email for contact-form submissions and newsletter delivery. EU-based, GDPR-compliant.
- Google Analytics 4 — anonymised website analytics. IP anonymisation is enabled.
- Our web host — hosting signalscope.site (server logs).
5. How long we keep it
- Contact-form enquiries — retained for up to 24 months from last contact, then deleted, unless a commercial relationship is in place.
- Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe.
- Customer / billing records — 7 years (UK statutory requirement for accounting records).
- Analytics — Google Analytics default retention (14 months).
6. Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you (subject access request)
- Have inaccurate data corrected
- Have your data erased (right to be forgotten)
- Object to processing or restrict it
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent (for newsletter) at any time
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk)
To exercise any of these rights, email conor.ewings@gmail.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.
7. Cookies
This website uses only the minimum cookies required:
- Google Analytics sets
_gaand_ga_*cookies to recognise repeat visits. IP anonymisation is enabled and no personally identifying information is collected.
You can block these cookies in your browser settings; the site remains fully functional without them.
8. The SignalScope product itself
SignalScope, Logger and Director are self-hosted on your own infrastructure. Once installed, the software runs on your servers, processes your audio locally, and stores recordings and metadata on your disks. We have no access to that data and cannot view it. The only product-side data we may ever see is licence-activation metadata (your licence key, the host machine's identifier and version number) — used solely to validate that your licence is active.
9. International transfers
Most processors we use are based in the EU or UK. Where data is transferred outside the UK / EEA (notably Google Analytics), it is subject to Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent safeguards under UK GDPR Article 46.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent change. For significant changes, we will notify newsletter subscribers and active customers by email.
